Laboradorite
Laboradorite is a stone of transformation, a mixture of sodium and calcium aluminum silicates--gray, green, bluish, and sometimes a play of various colors-- shimmery gem, usually khaki green, though sometimes gray, with characteristic flashes of rainbow-colored reflections, called "Labradorescence", which displays a particular type of iridescence on a dark ground. The effect is probably due to the presence of very fine platelets of different compositions and minute inclusions of ilmenite, rutile and, perhaps, magnetite, which cause diffraction. Discovered in 1770 on the Labrador Peninsula, from whence it gets its name. The Finnish variety is called "Spectrolite". (Na,Ca)AlSi3O8.
